Greta Thunberg has world leaders under her thumb

It seems everything is about justice these days. As I drove home from the store recently, I saw a sign for the elections here in New York from the local Democratic Party, promising “equity, equality, and justice for all.”

Beyond the obvious concerns any sane person should have about a promise of “equity,” the sign got me thinking about the absolute meaninglessness of the phrase “justice for all.”

Justice for all? Justice for what? And what, exactly, does justice mean?

App neutrality big step toward freedom for tech users

Apple Inc. recently warned that draft rules from the European Union requiring the company to open its mobile operating system to third-party apps would pose a security risk to its users.

A statement from the company, which expanded on comments made by CEO Tim Cook, said that if it were required to support the “sideloading” of apps (that is, not directly from its App Store), it would be “easier for cybercriminals to target them.”

The proposed Digital Markets Act, however, is an example of good

The rise of smiley-face environmental terrorism

There’s no doubt summer 2021 was a scorcher around the world.

The United Kingdom’s Met Office revealed that temperatures exceeded 30C in September for only the seventh time in history.

In Vancouver, 2021 was the second hottest summer ever recorded, with daily average temperatures at Vancouver International Airport reaching 18.9C in June, July and August. It was only 0.2C under the 63-year-old record. Elsewhere in Western Canada, June and July saw several days where temperatures exceeded 30C.

Burning churches, toppling statues won't ease the pain

In July, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau denounced the arson and vandalism of Catholic churches across Canada in the wake of discoveries of unmarked graves at former residential schools.

After more than 1,100 unmarked graves were discovered at the sites of schools previously run by the Catholic Church in British Columbia and Saskatchewan, protests erupted. Statues of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II were torn down and churches damaged.

The sights were disturbingly similar to those seen duri

Warning shots fired over cryptocurrencies?

Canadian and British regulators are on an entirely different wavelength to a significant portion of the cryptocurrency market and industry. They have implemented new regulations and cast doubt on the future of decentralized digital currencies.

The moves come as China is cracking down on all but one form of cryptocurrency, forcing Bitcoin miners out of the country to more liberal markets.

In June, the United Kingdom’s Financial Conduct Authority issued a consumer warning about Binance, the larg

Opinion | Shunning the unvaccinated just another kind of discrimination

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed in May that he would establish an agreement on creating a universal vaccine passport system with the G7 countries – including Canada. He told CBC News that nations require “agreements” on “COVID status certification and the rest.”

Johnson was referring to how travel and passports will work as the world leaves lockdown, signalling his belief that restrictions should be implemented on travel for those who refuse to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

Telling the ‘deplorables’ to shut up only feeds extremism

At age 15, I joined the biggest white-nationalist party in the UK, the British National Party. In the last decade, the BNP became hugely popular in blue-collar areas, feeding off workers’ misery following the 2008 crash and mainstream politicians’ refusal to discuss mass migration amid an economic crisis. I have since left the BNP and rededicated myself to countering its poison. And there is a lesson in my radicalization for the incoming Biden administration and US elites.

It began with unaddre
